Artist's description:

My interest in creating what I have begun to call ‘inscapes’ is fueled by both cold winter twilight walks and a visit to the Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum in Bremen. Her paintings are exhibited alongside the contemporary Danish painter, Per Kirkeby.
Modersohn-Becker often uses clearly recognizable landscape features – the earth and sky are clearly divided, yet colour is used in a more intuited manner, sometimes hinting at furrowed fields, tree lines which link to Kirkeby’s work, more elemental and with a sense of his background in geology. And of course, the collaged areas are a nod to both Kirkeby’s Pop Art pictures and the gold of the Succession artists.
In this series, inspired by the above artists and the East Anglian landscape in winter I have sought to create “Dusk Walks” or “Dammerung Wanderungen”, - pictures which draw upon the concrete, particularly the cool Northern light of winter, yet also refuse to be mere depictions, moreover taking the viewer on a journey into the painting.”
