Artist's description:

Red porcelain figurine with impressions in clay from wooden carvings resurrected from demolished buildings in China.

It is always a shame to see ancient buildings demolished yet when evidence remains of its existence and can be passed on to someone else by virtue of a market stall merchant, then it's worth using that piece of history to decorate something beautiful. This piece represents exactly that; the beauty in history and the necessity for preservation, a little bit of which anyone gets to take home and treasure for themselves.
