"Dreaming of Otto" I painted in 2012, although it seems like yesterday! this is one of my personal favorites. So many artists run into trouble when they try to paint red/pink and black. this painting has way more than that. There is an undertone of warmth stemming from the ochre pigments I used. I brought back these dry ochre pigments from a trip to Australia's Outback. They are amazing! There is definitely an evident finesse, confidence and power over my medium.

I love this painting because I remember my advisor (Larry Poons) shouting at me over and over, "More pink Trixie, more pink!" I think he gave me good advice and until very recently this painting had pride of place in the dining room of my Manhattan apartment! Some paintings need a light on them to be appreciated. This painting is amazing because it looks fabulous even at night!

It may be a "pink" painting but it would look absolutely fabulous with warm neutrals camel colors and black and white.
