Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

I painted this 24x24" painting "Dream Scape" in the encaustic technique - I applied several generous layers of molten pigmented beeswax medium on the 5/8" thick maisonite panel - The painting shows a wonderful silky, satiny surface and the colors are luminous pinks and magenta - an acrylic finish has been applied to protect against scratches, dust and UV. -
The painting is back framed for a contemporary presentation (floating effect) and ready to hang and enjoy -

Modern Expressions using an Ancient Technique -

Encaustic painting -
The Romans, Greek, Egyptians used this ancient medium - They used pigments from the earth and mixed and melted it with beeswax/resin medium using the fire or sun. They would decorate their tombs, ships and mummies with this encaustic medium -

My Encaustic Technique:
Life is too short to clean brushes - - so I melt pigmented wax crayons and apply the molten beeswax medium with either a tacking iron or hot air gun on either canvas or boards or glass - I then move the molten colors around, sometimes just using my fingers, an old credit card or tissues - I "paint" very intuitively - I begin work without any preconceived ideas and just keep the conversation between the canvas and me going - I like the idea of each painting being on a journey ending at a beautiful destination - It is my goal to engage the viewer and to be drawn into the picture and find some pleasure -
I paint mostly Florals, Feelings and Fantasies -
