This is one of my favourite paintings; it really captures the essence of space and freedom that I felt at the lake. I came upon this lake quite by chance when camping in the Canadian wilderness. We were looking for a place to stop and it had grown dark so we couldn't really see where we were apart from that there was some kind of water nearby, so we pitched camp and woke up to this amazing idyllic vista with the remains of chopped logs in the shallow water by the shore and the gorgeous Canadian pines surrounding the whole lake. I had to get my paints out at once!
