“A point is rest, a line is an internally movable tension that arises as a result of movement. Both of these elements, by their crossing and juxtaposition, form their own "language", which cannot be understood with the help of words. Wassily Kandinsky
⠀
Every time I look at a series of grape fields stretching to the horizon, in the Ai-Serez valley, I always remember this abstract artist. No, he did not paint vineyards, even at the beginning of his career and even more so later. What then is the connection, you ask?
⠀
Yes, everything is simple. He singled out three main elements in creativity. A point as a fundamental principle, a line and a plane. He studied these objects not only from the point of view of art, but also from a scientific and philosophical point of view. He collected his observations and reflections in the book Point and Line on a Plane. It tells how these elements manifest themselves in painting, music, poetry and nature. In nature, the symbol of a point is a seed, and the sprout growing from it is a line.
⠀
If you look at this grape valley from a height, you can clearly see where a vine-line grows from a point-seed, and then these lines are formed by farmers into rows of a vineyard. They go around the winding silhouettes of the mountains, forming dynamic planes. So similar to the abstract canvases of Kandinsky.
