Artist's description:

This work was rendered in thick, rich oil paint applied boldly to the support. I worked from a live model, who reminded me so much of a friend of mine who had similar gorgeous copper tresses. She never wanted to be called a "redhead" and I can understand why: such a simplistic, coarse term doesn't begin to capture the variance and luminosity of her amber-touched fiery hair.

I surrounded this image with copper leaf - a departure from most of this series which have gold leaf. The edges are copper as well, making the work suitable for hanging as is (without framing).

Materials used:

oil paint and copper leaf on canvas. Edges gilded so suitable for hanging unframed
