Artist's description:

Translation from Arabic Quran: "And let not your hand be tied (like a miser) to your neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach (like a spendthrift), so that you become blameworthy and in severe poverty.". Surat Al Isra [29]

Arabic calligraphy is written on Ahar (handmade paper, Acid-free) which is coated with multiple coats of wheat starch and a sizing made from alum and egg whites then burnished until it shines, a process from 500 years earlier calligrapher used to do. Written in gold calligraphy ink and outlined by brown ink colour using a bamboo calligraphy pen to reflect the Islamic ancient traditions for writing calligraphy in the 9th and 10th century’s.

The script is called Maghribi Mabsut used in North Africa.
