This abstract artwork was inspired by dancers and my own (now distant) past experience as a dancer. The dreamy quality of this piece was also inspired by the intensity and spontaneity found in much abstract art. The panel is very much a product of my feelings and emotions at the time of its creation.
Distant Dream was made using an organic layering processes to achieve the final textures seen in this artwork. Firstly, molding paste was used to outline parts of a dancer's body onto the MDF board. Layers of acrylic and mixed media paints were then brushed and poured onto the board, which resulted in the glossy, varnish-like look of the final artwork. The frame is part of the substrate, so the work comes in a white frame.
