This artwork is an initial study for a larger Digital Artwork. It's entitled 'Peace of Jelly Babies' features digital image of Jelly Babies, lined up neatly in a row, just like lines of Soldiers. This contains, Jelly Babies lined up before combat on a symbolic Peace background colour of Green.
This work is a piece of Conceptual Art. Conceptual Art was first derived in the 1960s by Sol LeWitt and art is a 'concept' rather than a material object. Within his work the work follows a sequence of repetitive shapes, colours. These sequence can be repeated by anyone if given a set of instructions by the Artist (in the past Sol LeWitt has published a set of instructions to make a piece of his Art). More recently, Conceptual Art has lost this basic principals, and is almost applied to any Modern artwork. Within my work, I am reverting to these basic principals, of using a repetitive shapes, the same colours of Pop Art (these are standard colours that come pre-installed within Illustrator and have not been modified by the Artist). Given these it is possible for anyone to recreate this piece of work.
Another contrasting version is available entitled 'War of Jelly Babies' depicts the Jelly Babies in the aftermath of War, with missing body parts, just like when you eat Jelly Babies, on a symbolic War background of Red. Both these images are to draw attention of contrast between the conflict of Peace and War, and Wounded Soldiers.
