Artist's description:

Mary Anning. Bygone Badass Broads. Mary grew up in a small town in southern England where she soon honed her fossil hunting skills on the sides of cliffs in Lyme Regis. Her and her brother found the first complete Ichthyosaur skeleton ever discovered. The discovery was huge because this was a time when people really didn't understand evolution or accept that dinosaurs really existed. Mary later discovered a complete skeleton of a Plesiosaur, also the first ever found. Scientist went crazy over this discovery. Men however published papers and presented the find without giving any credit to Mary. This did not change her love for fossil hunting. She continued on to find more complete skeletons, opened her own fossil store and bought her own house. Now mind you these were complete skeletons that had to be brought down from the sides of cliffs! She became so well known that the experts sought her help on the anatomy and classifications of dinosaurs. Bam! Sister earned her RESPECT!! The children's rhyme 'she sells sea shells by the sea shore' is actually written about Mary.
PS. Look for the movie on her life to come out next summer.
