Artist's description:

Part of a series of black and white portraits of actresses from the 1960s, concentrating on the notion of non-celebrity where the image encapsulates the work of the actress rather than just the beauty. I wanted to paint the images large and confronting to give the idea of awe for the actress, painted in black and white to give the idea of a time past but with a relevance when compared to the portraits of actresses today that concentrate on sexualising. This is about the beauty of the actresses' work.
