Original artwork description:
The Desert Song is an operetta with music by Sigmund Romberg and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, Otto Harbach and Frank Mandel. It was inspired by the 1925 uprising of the Riffs, a group of Moroccan fighters, against French colonial rule. It was also inspired by stories of Lawrence of Arabia aiding native guerrillas. This impression of the desert represents the landscape of the title.
ALL CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE - This piece is sold as a loose canvas only, and is not ready to hang. It will be delivered rolled in a heavy-duty parcel tube.
Painted on 100% cotton duck canvas, which will come off of the temporary stretcher frame and be dispatched. So once received it should be mounted on another suitable stretcher frame, and then hung with or without a decorative main frame.
It is signed and dated at the back, varnished for protection and a certificate of authenticity provided. The overall size of the canvas is 164×116cm and the painting size is 144×96×4 cm.
