Descanso in Spanish means to rest, or the site where someone's spirit left their body. Along the American roadways a cross is placed at the site of these unexpected deaths. The painting also plays on the Calavera art of the Day of the Dead where skulls or skeletons are decorated to become celebratory figures.

Materials used:

12 oz. cotton canvas stretched over a 1.5"x 2" wooden frame. Oil paint over acrylic size.
