Artwork description:

This iconic arch is breathtaking, literally. I realized I had a bit of acrophobia when I got close. There's this little corner you have to walk around with a 200 foot drop on the left. I couldn't do it. Started sweating, heart rate increased, felt faint. I tried three times. People passed me, looking at me with puzzled expressions. So...we learn things about ourselves we didn't even know!!

I drew this arch onto linoleum...(now that I have a very personal connection with it). And I cut out the linoleum, inked it up with oil-based ink, printed it onto Fabriano paper, and colored it in with watercolors.

I think I got the stack and the orange-red colors about right. I love this area. I love the rocks. They are literally breathtaking!

Materials used:

linoleum, oil-based ink, Fabriano paper, watercolor
