Original artwork description:

There once was a time where I was only comfortable using acrylic paint. The odd part about this is that I was first introduced into painting with oils. I would have stuck with it from the beginning had I not gotten golden yellow oil paint on one of my favorite shirts at the time, that definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. The transition to Oil was one of determination. My art never seemed to get much applause from galleries near me because it was "acrylic". Well I have to say, I am lucky that this determination would forge the style in which I paint now. This piece was meant to be a reminder of who I am and where I came from. Essentially a continuation of my thought process from "strung out". Recently in these deep thoughts and moments to myself I find that my art has been a source of release, and the more I look at this image the more obvious that becomes. "delectation" is defined as pleasure and enjoyment, exactly what this image and piece signify. The wonderfully colorful and organic background is used to symbolize the joys in life and how there is an abundance of it. While the silhouette is used to symbolize us, but only a rough outline, for we are not bound to a certain shape or form. We are ever changing in order to fit into our inner desires and pleasures. This ever changing form is hinted with the organic swirls and motions of the background paint.

The background of this painting was more of an experiment than a desire. I wanted to play around with some old paint and see what I could make it do with the variety of techniques I have developed through my studies with oil paint. Needless to say, this can and will never be replicated, for the motion that the paint took is all up to chance and nature. My hand was only there to guide the liquid, but which path it chose was determined by fate.
