This long and large painting of a honey colored beach and intensely blue sea summons up the intense perfection of the coast. Contemplating the ocean is a powerful therapy, the steady pulse of lapping waves and the enormity of the sea put one's life into proper perspective.
The paint colors used in the work account for it's intensity: dioxazine purple (a color I find occurs darker than black) iridescent turquoise and teal make up the water; naples yellow, lemon yellow, portrait pink and raw sienna impasto the coast. The shocks of white are gessoed canvas creating a zen-like negative resonance of the lightest forms. The brush work is simple and stunning.
