Artwork description:

The series “For an Instant Time Stood Still” is a collection of images taken from the driver’s seat of a stationary car. In each image, a photographic print of an image from another time and place can be seen in the rear-view mirror. Memories are constantly made and revisited, creating our sense of self, and the past can surface at any turn to influence how we perceive the present. The context of the stationary vehicle is suggestive of our inability to leave the past behind or a possible unwillingness to move on. Similarly, the jarring juxtaposition of the scene visible through the car window and the evocative print reflected in the mirror brings to mind feelings of homesickness, loss and longing.
