Artist's description:

This is a mythological scene: Daphne is a naiad, a female wood nymph. Her beauty attracted the attention of the god Apollo. Apollo fiercely pursued her against her will. Right before he could get to her she was transformed into a tree by her father, a rivier god. So she escaped her pursuer. I choose to paint her out of the frame with the trees, to symbolize her new freedom.

This oil painting is a handmade, unique artwork, signed at the back. It is painted on linen, using artist grade oil paints, media and varnish. You can find more information on my painting method in the Me at work section of this website. The artwork will be shipped in a sturdy cardboard box.
