Artist's description:

Dandelion cotton wings fly white and light...

This is a small delicate painting created by layer upon layer of paint. Initially I painting the canvas with vibrant blue and green inks. When dry, a layer of oil paint was added to sketch out the image. I work from an original photo, taken by me and manipulated on photoshop. I take an image transfer from the photo and this is layered onto the paint. Parts of that layer were then scratched away. I even use sandpaper to work at it. then further oil painting on top and another translucent image transfer. Finishing details finally added with oil paint.

In the frame the art work is 26cm x 26cm

I have been making things and painting things since childhood. Those days were spent living deep in the countryside nestled between woodland and lakes, an inspiration still.

The Solid insistence of nature; her transience...cycles of growth and decay, vulnerability and magic inform the mood and subject matter of my art works.

Sheffield (in Yorkshire, England) is famed for being the greenest city in Europe, the landscape is glorious with majestic mature trees, sweeping across the seven hills. From my studio I take in these views, witnessing and finding inspiration from the emotionally charged landscape that stretches out towards the moorlands of the Peak District national park.
