Dale Street in Manchester on a December day; a busy thoroughfare close to the city centre and close to the Northern Quarter where shops, cafes and bars attract diverse range of people. The one point perspective of the buildings draw your eye left to right and the warm oranges of the buildings contrast with the cool colours of the roads and pavements. The view is broken up by other elements such as people and passing traffic. A couple in the foreground create depth and I used the lady’s purple hair to link the cool blue tones to red warm tones. How I painted this was featured in The Artist May 2014 issue. It is on hot pressed watercolour paper, unframed and presented in a cream mount.
