Artist's description:

This imposing, mechanical wonder was found in the depths of a vast industrial complex. It was the business end of a supersonic jet engine test cell. The nozzle in the centre delivered a wind speed of over mach1 onto the engine under test and the array of vents around it lowered the air pressure so that the test could be simulated at high altitude. This is just a small part of the BAE's National Gas Turbine Establishment - known simply as Pyestock. The facility has sadly now been demolished, this image of test cell 3 documents a hugely important part of aviation history.
