This last winter I was passing by these cyclamens in my front garden every day without paying much attention to this beauty, until one bright November morning I was struck by the miniature waterfall of light cascading from all over this flower. It was cascading from inside of the backward-curving petals down the stems onto the leaves, then onto the rim of the pot and finally onto the concrete under the pot. It might be that my imagination spiralled out of control, but for a second it seemed to me that I could see pink and green reflection in the concrete as if this flower pot was standing on the mirror. The top petals were somewhat reminiscent of fairy wings and so transparent that I could see where the fountain of light was originated and swirled around the inside of the top flowers before falling down onto the slight yellowish leaves.
Well…that day I, of course, made dozens of photographs of this beautiful flower from different angles etc, however none of these could reproduce the waterfall of light, fairy wings and golden islands scattered over the green veil covering a simple flower pot. So…I decided to make this painting. Look at it…can you hear fairies singing?
