Artist's description:

Litho, monochrome proof of an otherwise colour run: artists always do a black print of their main image mainly as it's part of the process of getting the image to resist water and ink on the plate (proofing black ink as opposed to regular black ink) but also because if the background colours ending up being too clamourous they can confuse the reading of the drawing of the main image. This print is one of 3 black only prints of the run of about 8 prints (others to be added later).

It is of our neighbours' dog Archie, a French Bulldog, looking at a giant flying ant with a rather typically bulky Hastings seagull behind. The pathway is actually in Croft Road Hastings looking towards the sea. It is my first successful print at North Star in lithography since we figured out that we'd all been following instructions pinned to the wall that had one mistake in the sequence! There is a little bit of "scumming" around Archie but that all adds to the very "lithographic feel".
