Artist's description:

This image brings back a lot of fond memories for me.

The image itself reminds me of a crocodile's jagged teeth, poised and ready to bite. Croda Da Lago is in the Italian Dolomites, the views from the nearby tops are stunning, some of them from old WWI bunkers that were carved into the mountains. Views, history and fantastic dumpling soup & strudel from nearby Refugio Lagazuoi, what more could you want from a days walking!

The walk off was the most atmospheric I have experienced. Dark clouds had been forming all afternoon, a huge electrical storm began in the mountain top across the valley. We could see the slow moving storm heading our way, as enormous cracks of thunder echoed everywhere after every flash of lightning.

A fairly quick descent ended with a dash to Rifugio Scotoni as the rain started to lash down. Fortunately we were under shelter drinking hot chocolate as the worst of the storm raged outside!
