A side view of a white horse, almost at one with its shadowy background. The background itself is textured, with colour variations, whilst the horse is pure white. I created a background first, and thought that it would be a good background for some sort of apparition. I decided on a horse, for the broad expanses of white that it offered.
The thing I love about this painting is the contrast between the background, which was so complicated and time consuming to complete, and the subject which came off the brush so easily!
