Original artwork description:
Painted on site in Somerset, with clouds scudding across the sky. Had to complete the painting before it rained! I always paint outside amongst the elements - I can convey the atmosphere of where I am much better.
I always paint very impasto as the painting becomes almost abstract when viewed close up, focusing on the paint itself. When they step back, the viewer can enjoy both the image and the heavy mark making.
