Artist's description:

This is a place near where I live in West Lothian; It is a winding road that leads to a village beyond. This whole area used to be a 'shale' mining area. The long formation in the distance is what is called a 'bing' - discarded shale from which extracted oil, used to make paraffin, was left piled into a pyramidical kind of sand monument, which has a nice pinkish glow when the sun shines on it.
The telegraph poles added to the scene; adding a kind of whimsy in their 'lazy' appearance.

Materials used:

acrylic paint

'Country road' (2013)
