I often snap photos on my phone when I'm at the beach walking the dogs which I then upload to Instagram. This was inspired by one such photo that I took the other day of a very moody sky over Strathy beach at high tide with just a little pop of yellow where the sun was trying hard to make an appearance.
I decided to paint it but give it a little bit of a surreal twist following on from my other night sky paintings recently.
This is a tiny canvas as you can see from the photos and I've used acrylic paint (both acrylic spray paint and regular acrylic paint with a palette knife in an impasto style for a little bit of texture in the surf. The canvas is set onto mounting card and then framed in a natural wooden box frame.
