Artist's description:

I am now enrolled on an Oxford University course covering Italian Renaissance Art from 1350 to 1450 AD - but although I love the Sienna School (and its friends), especially Simone Martini, Duccio and Giotto I'm certainly not post-Gothic!

When young I was privileged to have been taken to the Quirinale in Rome for a tour of the Giotto paintings and others by my uncle Franco Martini who was give an Vatican Knighthood by the Pope. Back then, even though I was only seven I could spot the work of Giotto immediately. I wonder if my uncle was related to Simone from Sienna!?

Joking apart, the truth is I love colour and that I'm a colourist is pretty obvious when you look at my painting of a Tuscan upland valley in the evening.

I shall be doing more Tuscan scenes soon, so hope you like them.

kind regards

David
