The Colour Fields Series engages with the idea of beauty by focusing on colour theories and movement. Colours are set in contrast to each other through a divide in the canvas, exactly one-third and two-thirds. This constraint in the composition combined with loose, distinct brushstrokes that resonate strongly with the impressionist movement allows the viewers to relate directly with the essence of how colour can convey beauty. Multiple layers of polyurethane create a glossy surface over the textured brushwork of the acrylic paint, allowing the viewers to peer inside the painting’s depths and alluding to the canvas’s past history as either a blank canvas or a former painting. These layers of polyurethane seal the canvas to ensure a unique and long-lasting work of art.
