Directory / Werkverzeichnis Nr. C448
Edition 1 / 25
Collisions Nr. 448 was shot in a shopping mall in Puerto de la Cruz / Tenerife / Spain in 2017.
I was drawn down the aisle, because I saw the emergency exit door standing open, a diffuse light shining down stairs, which could not be seen, providing an idea of the outside world in that colourful corner of a dead end. The picture is also another good example for paint-realistic-photography - Malereirealistische Fotografie and as well for my love of Bauhaus.
My series "Collisions" was formerly named "Confrontations" as well. Different layers of reality collide at "confrontation lines" like tectonic plates and most likely leave their state of being three-dimensional behind. The wall in the background, the wall around the corner, the area of shadow, the blue sky, that other square, is-that-part-of-a-roof-over there-?, that part of the door - all this geometrical areas melt together to just one flat dimension.
My prints come with a 6 cm white "surrounding", which makes the framing / mounting more convenient.
I don't do different editions in different sizes. I find that quiet awkward. Saying there will be only - for example in this case - 25 copies sold of it and then going: "Ah wait - I didn't say, I won't start another edition in another size".
But this also means, that I'd love to sell bigger sizes (not smaller) within the edition if asked for it.
If you prefer a "ready-to-hang-solution" - speak to me and for sure we'll find a medium, we both could live with. I very much prefer Aludibond.
The prices of my limited artworks rise, the further the edition proceeds. In other words: the first print of the edition is the best value - more or less a bargain, the last one consequently the most expensive. I consider this logical, because by doing so, my artworks automatically rise in value.
