Artist's description:

I used to live in Ruthin, within Vale of Clwyd and have loved painting that area. I took a day trip back over the mountains to some favourite spots and this is one of the results. It is painted on site, in one sitting. So I sat, almost in the hedgerow to get the view I wanted and then painted it directly onto the canvas. I have a system of corners for canvases so I can transport them when they are wet, allowing me to paint outdoors. Painting outdoors means that you have all the evidence there in front of you. If I can't see it I don't paint it. It allows me to respond to the space directly.
This canvas is unframed and has mirror plates fitted halfway down the vertical sides. They are loosened and rotated in for safe shipping.
