New York City view
My work focuses on painting and prints, the subjects are mostly landscapes (both nature and urban) and still-lives, or I should rather say the evocation of familiar places and common objects, a sort of universal memory that we all share through the use of symbols and shapes
The work starts with pencil sketches that define an idea with a vocabulary of signs and marks, creating a basic composition and progressively building elements of a narrative.
From then, it moves to acrylic paint on canvas, or, to watercolor and ink on paper to become a digital litho template for Giclée prints.
In landscapes images, buildings or trees representations are often reduced to lines and simple shapes suggesting windows, arches, urban objects, or leaves water, and organic elements.
The color and vibrancy drives the emotional content, letting one’s imagination build anticipation and narrative
“The work aims towards a dialogue on common imaginary places”
“What interests me is not a particular landscape, but the way we collectively imagine or dream of such a place.”
