Artist's description:

How obsessed are we with money? ‘A lot’ would be a reasonable assumption. Those who lack it want it desperately, those who have it might either be terrified of losing it or, if they seem not to think about it, all it would take would be for them to lose it to suddenly realize how dependent they actually are on it. Money is a necessity, and it has been a very practical, time proven, form of trade. But one cannot entirely dismiss the unsavory character of money or rather the unsavory traits of character it can reveal in individuals. Some are exploited for money whilst others are only too happy to perpetuate this exploitation, some consider money can not only buy a product or service but also the human being associated to that product or service. Money can sometimes be a symbol of success, sometimes the undeniable proof of corruption. Does money really equate with freedom? Depending on our circumstances, how hard do we have to work for it? What are the expectations forced upon the fortunate in terms of possessions and style? Subsequently, how much is each wealthy person a potential prisoner of the image demanded of wealth? There is room for decades of theories and debates. Here, the glorious symbol of success is seen rising from the often less than innocent waters of capitalism and the regimented social codes it feeds from.
