A semi-abstract painting in acrylic and mixed media on a deep edged box canvas. All sides & edges are painted, fitted with a metal hanging device at the rear, signed at the side and complete with a signed certificate of authenticity.
This painting has masses of texture to it, and a background created from many layers of paint. Most of the painting was created with a palette knife, and areas of thick texture are built up, almost modelled onto the canvas. Genuine 24-carat gold leaf has then been applied to the built up areas allowing them to give another dimension to this work.
The bird that features is a Curlew, and the words that also feature on the painting are an extract from a poem titled The Curlew by the Welsh born poet Gillian Clarke.
I so enjoyed creating this work. It is a real departure from many of my other works, but still with my interest in birds remaining a real inspiration.
