At the beginning of this year, I entered a Neoclassical period in my work. Many of the paintings I did during this time portray the classical figure in a way that resembles the deteriorated frescoes of ancient Rome. However, this is a floral piece, and much more abstract. I live in Arizona and during the time of year that this was painted, we get a lot of monsoon storms. For this painting, I layered the paint in such a way that seems to superimpose storm clouds with flowers, while also resembling the fresco on an old wall.
