Artist's description:

Oil on Board 11x24. 8,000' + trail run and painting session on Devisadero Loop Trail 108, NM. I regularly run this trail which is a locals favorite as it offers sweeping views in all directions. The Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia engelmannii) were in full bloom and drove me to a titillating excitement! A lot of juice was flowing from these beauties and I wanted to connect an IV drip direct to my brushes and palette knives. Did you know that, the fruits of most prickly pears are edible and sold in stores under the name "tuna"? (Source: )

During this 6 hour, 6 mile outing the average output and costs to create this painting were: backpack weight 38 lbs, 3,105 calories burned, 12,672 steps, 2lbs. of paint and 72 hours of painting time. You guessed it: This isn't your normal studio painting! (Painting comes complete with any flying insects that may have landed their way onto the wet paint.)

Materials used:

Masonite board, oil paints

Cholla Craze (2015)
