Artist's description:

This painting is more about the process than the final piece. I began by making random marks on a very wet canvas. Once the entire surface was covered with an interesting colour variation I began plotting lines over the top. Some of these were random but more often or not I would begin to see path within the painted background. Then, I began to connect the scattered lines by encircling small areas of interest, highlighting bits within the background that I liked the look of. Eventually, this leads to larger shapes emerging. In this case, a Yin & Yang-esque shape began to present itself. I am Taoist and this symbol resonates with me greatly. I also began blocking out small areas I didn't like with various colours in order to add a 3-dimensional effect to the shape. In the end, I decided to go over the remaining background with a thinnish layer of white. It may seem silly covering up something that took many hours to do. But, this painting is about the creation of structure from the chaos. After that, the rest is background noise to be cut out. In reality, this painting took far longer than any other on this shop and a lot longer than many commissions I do.
As a side note, this is painted on unstretched canvas (ie. no wooden frame) and therefore can be rolled and shipped in a tube, greatly reducing shipping costs.
