Artist's description:

This painting is more about the process than the final piece. I began by making random marks on a very wet canvas. Once the entire surface was covered with an interesting colour variation I began plotting lines over the top. Some of these were random but more often or not I would begin to see a path within the background. Then, I began to connect the scattered lines by encircling small areas of interest, highlighting bits within the background that I liked the look of. Eventually, this leads to larger shapes emerging. In this case, a Yin & Yang-esque shape began to present itself. I am Taoist and this symbol resonates with me greatly. I also began blocking out small areas I didn't like with various colours in order to add a 3-dimensional effect to the shape. In the end, I decided to go over the remaining background with a thinnish layer of white.
This is painted on unstretched canvas (ie. no wooden frame) and therefore can be rolled and shipped in a tube, greatly reducing shipping costs.
