Artist's description:

This is a traditional, realist still-life painted in oil on stretched canvas. The focus is a large vase of flowers. The palette is fairly full, with greens, browns and yellows predominating.

Pictured is a square end of a dark wood table top. A wooden chair with a scrolled ear showing frames the right side of the table. To the left, a framed portrait of a man sits near the back of the table. The table is against a patterned wall. In the foreground to the left is a white, blue-banded china cup holding a patterned silver spoon. To the right are two small red candies wrapped in cellophane.

Most of the picture plane is taken up with a large multi-faceted ceramic vase full of flowers. The vase sits on a white doily. It is primarily yellow in vertical panels with wavy gold lines running vertically along the panel edges. The flowers are yellow, white, pink and red, include daisies, wild roses and lilies, and are accompanied by rich green ferns and foliage.

The work is in pristine condition and is signed by the artist.
