Artist's description:

I wish I could say that I painted these flowers from my garden but they were, in fact, in the gardens at Hoveton Hall, a large house near where I live. I was very fortunate in being able to spend a lovely spring day sketching in the gardens and, as I am motivated by colour, these daisies took my eye. It is a small painting where the support was a piece of marbled paper in green, and then developed in brightly coloured soft pastel. The title is derived from the common name for the plant, whose botanical name is rudbekia hirta. It is sold in an off-white mount in a simple white glazed frame.

Materials used:

oil paint marbled paper with soft pastel
