Artist's description:

A few years ago I stopped at a hotel on the Isle of Arran is Scotland. It was at over the new year period. Unfortunately I was trying to fight off an illness which was making me slightly disorientated to say the least. I finally managed to get down to the festivities about 7 o'clock. Actually the beer was a real tonic and soon I was dancing to anything that had a beat! Feeling brave, I went down to a local Hogmanay bash, which had been advertised in the hotel, in an old barn close to the sea shore; and on a very bitter night! Down went the beer, whisky, you know the rest!

Now during the night when I finally rolled back to the hotel, I threw myself into bed. Now I know that I was slightly ill; however I soon slipped into a deep sleep. Unfortunately it was a rather restless sleep. For some reason, I couldn't get rid of this image of a dead tree; no bark, no leaves, no soul! This tree had some strange angles to its branches and had a distinct Caledonian flavour accompanied by some ancient droney music like a very bassy bagpipe. This was accentuated by some ancient drum sound. I awoke sweating!

Okay, so this experience was the inspiration behind the title of this particular photograph, which could only be finished in monochrome. Oh, I forgot to mention; the dream was in monochrome too!

If you have a Celtic side, I hope this beautiful monochrome print will sing out to you.

Kindest regards
