Artist's description:

The key character of this painting is old and lonely lady whose main joy or even a whim are her cats. I think that you may find such cat ladies in every country and on every continent. A small family portrait on the top left corner, according to my idea, calls you to perceive this artwork with irony, as a comedy rather than a tragedy.

This artwork is made with use of complicated author’s technique of batik and painting. This artwork is painted on the natural silk cloth with professional German silk paints, batik textile dyes, waxes, etc. (KREUL Javana). The paints are water based, do not smell, are fade and wash resistant (after fixing).

Signed on the front. Certificate of Authenticity is included. This painting will be shipped carefully and safely rolled in a durable plastic tube.

There is no single approach to hanging and framing of batik artworks. Batik paintings may be (i) framed behind a glass (similar to watercolors), (ii) may be mounted on a stretcher with or without a frame (since silk is a semitransparent material, such approach is not recommended in case you have dark walls), or (iii) may be mounted over white stretched canvas and put on wall like a regular oil painting (with or without a frame). Some larger of my batik works are fixed on a metal bar on the top and another one at the bottom (for balance) and may be hanged on a wall, like a gobelin. Please have a look at the photos at “Me at work” section to see examples of different approaches of how you may put batik on the wall.
