Oil on canvas, underworked in cerulean blue then overworked with an orangey red. The colour extends around the canvas to cover the edges as well. There is a partner painting to this, and I would offer a discount for a joint purchase. Because the pose is viewed from an aerial perspective, it hangs equally well in a landscape or portrait position, making it versatile for house moves and room reconfiguring.
This one of several works I made while in Brunei of my neighbour's cat Pedro. Pedro was an exceptionally beautiful black cat who liked to use my air conditioning when his pilot owner was away working. In return he would twist himself into interesting positions on our best couch and hold the pose until I had completed my sketches. On one occasion I even managed to sketch him from life in oil on canvas.
Unfortunately for Pedro he managed to lie under a wheel of his owner's car just as he was reversing out and got his head partially squashed. Proving how tough a street cat can be he actually recovered and lived several more years, continuing to be the scourge of the local gecko population.
