I'm lucky enough to live by the sea. Consequently I go beach-combing quite often, especially during the summer. There is always driftwood to be found. I love the sea-washed softened textures and faded greys of the wood, the dried friable nature of the surface.
Sometimes I will sit down there and then and use whatever is in my pocket (I often take a few dry materials and pens with me), to create an image on whatever I have found. Sometimes I will just leave the finished piece where I found it for a passer-by to find, sometimes I will bring it home and live with it for a while.
These driftwood pieces for sale are the cream of this sea-bound crop. The dry materials are all fixed, and the pieces varnished with a light satin finish varnish. They are not framed, although framing is available on request at additional cost.
Driftwood, acrylic paint, chalk, charcoal, ink.
