Artist's description:

Painted in Florence on site, this is a small vignette into the alley behind this famous structure. I painted this while surrounded by French school boys on a trip who were playing soccer as the afternoon sun set. The cappella was never completed as the Medicis were exiled from Florence and Michelangelo never completed the building. There are many hidden corridors and sculpture displays of Michelangelo's marble work within the building which were installed after he permanently departed for Rome in haste. There are even sketches by Michelangelo on the walls of the secret corridors. This was painted sitting outside the chapel on a bench in the Piazza di Madonna Deli Aldobrandini.
