One of the most iconic images from the 20th Century, Buzz Aldrin standing on the moon with the Lunar lander and Neil Armstrong reflected in his visor. This painting is a reflection of both that amazing moment in time, and of the popular culture of the era. Both Life magazine and the image form a part of American history that had no boundaries. The race to the moon and into space required courage and dedication, and hard work from all who took part. Qualities which have inspired me through my life.
It was painted using a wet on wet technique, which allows the colours to mix as they are built one upon another.
