Original artwork description:

Taken from Celtic religious beliefs, Burch (notice the spelling) was the spirit that protected the forests. Birch trees were (and still are) considered to be sacred because of their early spring growth and their healing properties. Forest dwelling Native American tribes used the bark of birch trees to make the first aspirin. Today we still use the same chemical compound to make aspirin.
