Artist's description:

bright stunning buoys in maine. floating on the sea. fluorescent colors and a weathered worn textured surface. here vibrant lavender purple pigment and iridescent/pearlescent metallic pigments. lenses are not sure what to do with it, but your eyes will notice how it changes with the angle of view and light—like the surface of the sea.

a modern scroll painting from my ongoing series of coastal nature.

traditionally scrolls were vehicles for displaying calligraphy/painting, capturing a feeling of nature/an idea, to be hung to set a mood, and changed often to match an occasion/season—as often as 72 times a year!

as with their traditional counterparts, my themes are similar: feelings and memory. like visiting my father in rural maine, with the moon over the islands, pointed firs and rocks along the shore, foamy waves on the surface. hedgerows abloom with wild roses swaying in the leeward breeze. a late morning haze, beneath the waves,

my reinvention of japanese "kakejiku" are on synthetic fiber similar in appearance to rice paper, but stronger, waterproof and tear-resistant, and framed, ie, hung on black half inch metal rods along the top and bottom edges. it arrives rolled in a box, ready to hang with one small nail (included).
