"Bump In the Road" is a watercolor and acrylic painting on canvas, combined with my collaged handpainted Japanese rice papers. It has touches of pencil throughout. It's finished with many coats of matte UV varnish for extra protection.
The painting measures 30" X 40" X 2 1/4". The sides of the canvas are painted a very light French gray...so it can be hung without a frame.
My current abstract work is an inner reflection of my own battle with cancer and the realization that life is just too short. I hope it will be a reminder to not live life on auto pilot...seize the day, have fun and enjoy every moment that we are given.
This painting was created while I waited on a biopsy report after two years of being cancer free. It represents the road and the sidewalk. No matter what path we decide to take...there might be a few bumps...but it's always interesting and beautiful if we just open our eyes.
